Saw early Leigh Matthews play in 1969 and 1970. Not saying this boy is another Matthews. But he does bear some resemblance and create similar levels of chaos when he is around the ball.
Another absolutely outstanding piece of work again HI, and full of rich, heart warming goodness. My fear for Newk is that if he is probably our best mid, he will inevitably cop a tag from oppo. This will clearly impact his output and ball getting powers. That said, he will have great resources in Harvey and Mitch himself on how to cope and shake off a tag! It will be fascinating to see how Newk copes when the oppo put work into him, so it could be the witnessing of an unfolding superstar of a player if he can overcome it!
Got to admit it. I don't trust the Rising Star giving Jai the award, but he really should win it (even at this stage!) The only the area he needs to work on is disposal skills - some refinement with his kicking would turn him into a Brownlow medallist (and I don't think I'm getting carried away). The prediction of Scrimshaw on the B & F podium might be too optimistic. Remember, he played well last year and didn't get anywhere near it. The coaches aren't generous with their votes for some reason (perhaps the new ones this year will change that).

After listening to the player review podcast even Brad thinks he goes alright!!!
