I am literally crying years of joy. Gunners has so many credits in the bank he can come back as if nothing happened in between. A great clubman and still a pretty useful and clever player. Footy smarts don’t vanish. Welcome back Jack. Like a ghost from the past in Whispering Jack, a comeback is a comeback! 👏👏👏😂

This is great for the culture of the club and if he is match fit, a really useful addition to the forward line. He’ll provide great guidance for Ryan and Ferg (if the Hawks keep him).

Interesting development in my eyes. We’re not progressing to get the Chol deal done and in most opinions we see Chol as a temporary solution. Does Gunstall become temp solution for the next couple of years??

All that aside, the romanticism of this coming to pass is exactly what the club needs and stands for. Can’t wait to have him back at Waverley!!

If you take the romanticism out of it, this doesn't make sense. We have chosen a path and going back to Gunners is a big deviation from that strategy. The fact is he kicked 22 goals in 17 games in a high-end team and couldn't hold his spot in the Brisbane team. We have moved on, with Denver showing promise as a forward, our coaches excited about Ryan's talent and how he'll benefit from a full AFL pre-season and a real wild card in Ramsden. Getting Gunston for 1-2 years just slows the development of those prospects. And there's no way that he and Punky can play in the same forward line - we already have huge issues retaining the ball inside our 50 and that would only become a bigger problem if they both played together. Absolutely love Gunners - he was a key part of our success from 2012-18 and he was a terrific big game player, but getting him in won't move the dial on our on-field performance in 2024 and will only slow the development of our younger talls.

He will be a huge onfield benefit for Ryan who has a heap of great attributes but needs guidance around positioning himself.

Paul, we seem to be committed to Chol. If Gunners comes back, Ryan and Gunners won't be on the field together. Ryan will be playing for Box Hill.

Yeah possibly too tall if we end up getting Chol (if). We'll see.

Great news and wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments.

Even if we only get 10games with Jack the off field benefits will be enormous

Can’t get any more anti-Tom Mitchell than this!

Let’s hope it works out better than Rooney returning to (n)Everton 😂😂
