The only injury I have heard associated with Jack is Turf toe.

Turf toe is sprain of the main joint of the big toe. If his Turf Toe is Grade 1 - which is the mildest form - he could play but would be on limited minutes and in a stiff soled boot.

He would also need be on a limited training program - which might limit his prep. The player himself may be putting his hand up to play but deemed not match fit.

Really unlikely "he is out of favor" or Mitchell has some "ego thing" going.

In our fan group, 'Line in the Sand' , we are asking the same question and it is pissing us off that the club does not respond. There is absolutely no doubt that Jack is amongst our ten best players leave alone our best 22....look at the poor form of CJ, Wingard, Morrison, Frost and the laughable inclusion of Kosi....come on Hawthorn give us a break. This will not end well if our uber talented and lifelong Hawk fan, Jack , is "seeking opportunities elsewhere' at seasons end.

Yes those too. My point is I hope Sam is not doing the same ego thing with scrimma!!

Weissy my concern about this as it may be wrapped up in SM’s ego - I hope not! I felt in his final few years Clarkos ego was out of control and led us to where we are now. So his current ravings are disingenuous at best !

- the Wingard trade

- the omeara trade

- recruiting dgb

- persisting with Howe, TOB and others (he’s still doing it !!!)

- not playing youth

- letting quality coached and administrators go

In Clarko we trust!!! Really !

All because he had his head up his arse!!

SM needs to guard against this everyday. I hope scrimshaw is not the first sign of it. As quite frankly and despite your superb article it makes no sense

Add Ty Vickery, Jon Patton and Tom Scully. Patton was shithouse and kept Lewis out of the team whilst delivering nothing. Remember when he cried like a baby on the bench when he thought he did another ACL which ended up being a hammy or something. I know for a fact GWS were rapt to have offloaded him and the big contract. Clarko may offer Chad a 2 year contract.

Play Scrimshaw FULL STOP.

Maybe what the club says is true - he's been struggling with fitness, his form has been average, he plays a role where we have a number of options and he's not the first player to be used as a sub when returning from injury related issues (Fyfe for example). Our defensive seven seems to be Hardwick, Sicily, Impey, Mitchell, CJ and two talls (last week it was Frost and Blanck, this week hopefully it's Frost and Denver). So, where does that leave Scrimshaw? We definitely need an aerial presence up forward to help Lewis and we could do a lot worse than try and develop Scrim as a forward option. If successful, he could be the ultimate swing man.

Weissy you’re correct I watched him get tested at HT in the hawks/swans game for BH and seemed quite proppy. Can’t imagine why he is out of favour? Seems a very steady type of person to me! Why you would have an injured player as a sun is beyond me What is his contract status do you know?

Thanks Phillip - contracted until the end of 2024. Could really do with his skill as well on HBF when you look at the number of basic skill errors we have been making too!
