Totes agree Brad. I think it may be similar to last week in that if we win the midfield battle that will go a long way to winning the game. The other thing I am looking forward too is a possible Sicily to forward line from the start of the game. The swagger from him if he booted 5 or more would be a highlight. Really enjoyed the Hawks doco on 7 that showed a great insight into Sam's selection dilemmas of having 27 players pushing for selection and love how you have a depth section to your selection dissection. Its great to have players knocking on the door waiting for their chance to shine. Really hope Wardy has a blinder.
Can we not describe our players as poor? Was not a night for small fwds, of either team, and there’s some quality players there.
None of them got dropped, and we have in form replacements. It’s likely they did a lot right, or at least as directed, even if it didn’t mean they kicked goals.
Did Box Hill have a practice game on the weekend? I wonder if any of Gunners, Scaife or Rama had a good game, if they did? I like the idea of CJ as a sub at this stage of his return to footy.
Does Maginness get the job on Merrett and look to shut him out of the game? Or do we back our mids to beat the dirty rottens. Personally I would back our mids to beat them and only use hard tag if we need too. Totally agree with you that Ward has the runs on the board to replace Worpel and Hustwaite is definitely next in line based on pre-season work.
Hi Reg, after 2023 Sam Mitchell went against using a “heavy tag” with Finn and backed our midfield in. I can’t see that changing. IF Merrett has 20 touches in the first half, Finn may be put to him…Connor Nash is another one of our mids that can play a “run with” role and may be used if required. Sam Durham is another quality midfielder the bombers have that will require some attention. The midfield battle will be a great watch tomorrow night
Good start Brad and you're probably right. On a bigger ground, we need another tall option up forward, which means Gunston or Ramsden must play, particularly as Meeky will be solo against two rucks. It's Gunston or Ramsden and Ward in for Worpel and Maginness, with CJ the sub. Playing Frosty as the sub, especially with Essendon's under sized forward line really limits our options if a player goes down.
Can’t see Maginness being dropped. Will need him in case Merrett or martin need extra attention. CJ won’t be ready yet. Will need to play for box hill again. Lack of second key forward the biggest issue! Need 2 Sicily’s
Seems the likeliest scenario.

Can’t see the logic in having Frost as sub…this week or last week. No flexibility. Agree Ward in maybe One of Gunston/ Ramsden or McCabe for Frost.
Mitchell doesn’t like to change anything after a win…if be surprised if there’s more than the one change..Frost will likely be the sub again

It's a risk but I'd leave Frosty out completely and make Huss the sub
Can’t see both Ward and Hustwaite coming into the 23. Will only be one of them.
