Ramsden played and kicked a goal? Late Q1 from memory. Thought McCabe showed something. Needs to learn how to kick for goal though. And weak signals but I reckon Mraz will be a corker.
That game was 2 hours of my life that I will never get back. Hawks of 22-23. Was hoping to see Rama in the forward line given the hype about his improvement over Summer instead of Jack Gunston. I agree with your Chol discussion. Day, Mackenzie & Newc best for me (we must find a spot for Mackenzie each week). Fringe players (Mitchell & Ward (not a Winger). Keen to see more of MacDonald, Ryan & McCabe next practice match).
I enjoyed it outside of the first quarter! If we didn’t see Ramsden today, I think that gives us a fair idea of where he is in the pecking order. Fully agree regarding Mackenzie, he was fantastic!
I have to say that the train ride home this time last year from Whitten Oval was much more depressing than the drive back from KP yesterday.
Can I suggest (and please not to be taken as a direct criticism) that it is a salutary reminder to all of us that this year is not going to be situation where we pick up where we left off last year.
I too was surprised about the initial starting forward set up, but on reflection were the coaches keeping their powder dry for the real games? It also may have been a trial to see what won’t work.
At the ground, to my eye, Hardwick’s work was first rate which may not have been evident on the coverage.
On Mackenzie, the podcast the boys did with Burge suggests he’d be a lock for a spot - injury last year totally out of the blue.
I do hope it was a trial for what won’t work. I get the team was unbalanced by the massive outs! Some of the missing players get the best out of other players (eg Ginni and Wiz)…… The ball was in def far too much for my liking…. it looked like they had no upfield options so chipped it around. Hokball didn’t make the trip up the highway and appeared to be chilling in Waverley.
How huge was Bodie Ryans leg 😳 clearance kick from goals at least 65 metres ..
Thanks guys. Appreciate the insights.
Last time we went there they destroyed us - that was Round 18 - when we were flying.
Anyone remember the Cats played in a Prelim last year?
A lot to like
At least 6 of the stating 23 were out. Over 25%
Hawks "B" Team takes on the Cats "A" team at home and was in touch at 3/4 time
Midfield battle looked like Neo fighting Agent Smith at the end of the movie
Connor O’Sullivan for Geelong from memory I think Mark McKenzie tried to get in early and do a deal but we could not get a deal done?
You might be right on that one, and he looks a ripper. I’m very happy with Mraz and McCabe’s brief showings too!
And Hus 44 is 2025 his year !! Hope so

Ramsden kicked a goal late in the game, early fourth quarter. Wasn’t introduced until 3/4 time.
