If you imagined the best possible outcome from this game then the Hawks delivered. Won the game. No injuries. Boosted the percentage enough to get us in the eight and make us competive against the other teams on equal points. A couple more good wins and we will be entrenched for the finals.
I love the HI Team but you all LOVE CJ and what has he actually done? I think your love is based on potential BUT will it ever come? When I heard the late OUT, I was super happy. Harry M may not be a “potential” star but he is a footballer. Very happy with his early goal which made a statement. I have said this all year. Offer CJ a 12 month contract only and see what 2025 brings otherwise trade him for a top 25 pick after all compensation picks are allocated.
Weddle deserves the No 23. In my lifetime it is our most famous and exciting number “for me” which started with Don Scott
I’ve been pretty clear on my position on Jiath, and what he brings to the balance of our side. I think the defensive aspect to his game will be very important when the whips are cracking in finals football.
My concern is that too many people are worried about him not getting enough possessions, that’s not the only measure of a players ability or performance.
You have every right to love CJ. CJ has energy and swagger in spades, he has that big infectious smile, his teammates love him and he is a marketing dream which is fantastic, I just want all of that to translate into performance. There cannot be any passengers when we play finals. GWS won because not all could contributed on the day or have a big moment to get the win. Not surprisingly, the AFL app shows CJ’s stats largely below average. Ward was dropped because he failed to impact. I am not the only Hawk supporter who is eagerly awaiting the breakout game to reboot CJ’s career followed by the consistency that Sam Mitchell regularly speaks about for all facets of the game. Each week the HI team highlights those who had amazing games and CJ is never one of them. The team speaks in terms of “when”. I look forward to the arrival of the “when’s”. My favourite CJ moment this year was when he papped Ginni after a goal. Weddle plays the way I have been wanting CJ to play. I thought after the ACT Snow game we were going to get that. Turn the flare into results. If we land Battle and Barrass where does CJ go? Massimo has 1 wing stitched up, Weddle can have the other or for that matter he can have anywhere he wants. Scrim can free up and Sic and Hardwick can swing forward. CJ???
Thanks Michelle, my position on Jiath is not about my love for him or anything to do with the way he carries himself, it’s what he brings to the team balance in terms of defensive responsibility.
It will be interesting to see how the Hawks go the rest of the season, and whether or not Jiath can get back in the side. I suspect Sam will pick him eventually, because Jiath’s impact goes beyond his disposal numbers.
