There is no debate that “ratings” are totally subjective, so with respect to each having their own a couple of thoughts on the chat.

Ruck assessment - I would be giving some credit to Reeves particularly for disrupting the Lion’s midfielders reliance on the “Big O” (who would be in the discussion for top 5 in the comp) in the centre square. My “unresearched” view would be that the Lions would regularly have a clean centre square clearance - think Neale or Ashcroft coming out the front to Daniher/Cameron on the lead. Aside from the last part of the 2nd quarter, this wasn’t evident to my eye yesterday. For ruckman, like defenders, they are not always credited for what they stop.

(Note: The Big O is an interesting comparison to Reeves - when O was 30 games into his career was it thought he would get to where he is now?)

On Kosi, if Andrew wanted to critique a “mistake” he could’ve cited the dropped mark on the lead in the Ponsford/MCC members pocket in the 3rd quarter. For him to be on McKenna is either a work rate credit to him or a Lion’s defensive failure. I note that there was no specific credit to his spoil at the start of the 3rd which gave Breust his goal & set the momentum up for the quarter.

The obvious underlying point being that Kosi is the best option as it stands for this role. I think we’ve learnt Ramsden is on the L plates; Greene doesn’t have the physical size & shape with injuries/health impacting on Jeka & Serong.

The other factor in recent weeks is that the mids are also giving cleaner forward 50 entries compared to earlier in the season when there were “kick & hope” entries.

Agree Mick - I actually did talk about that moment in terms of Kosi and his dropped soda. The spoil was magnificent, and agree he is the best option for now… not convinced he is the answer long term but would be happy to be proven wrong!!

Apologies Andrew if I missed your reference to the dropped mark.

We can only play with the cards we're dealt (i.e. draft) - who'd have thought Mihocek would be the key forward in the top team?

Thanks again lads for an excellent assessment of each player.

Just wanted to give an extra applause of appreciation for Ash in getting that interview with Connor Nash.

How bloody impressive is he as a leader. It’s no surprise Will Day was quick to nominate him as someone who makes them all walk taller. Nash’s development has been amazing to watch and Hawks Insiders have done an excellent job of highlighting this perhaps where other media have been relatively quiet.

Great work guys. 94 minutes!! What's going on, Ash??? 🤣

✔ Burge best recruit during off-season

Best stat for the game. Turnovers in the 50s. About 20 less than Lions and 10 less than season average. Great number for the high possession game we are playing. Next best. Tackles inside 50. 30% higher than season average. These are a great signs.

Some really nice performances; Lewis, Newcombe, Sicily, Mitchell, Worps, Brockman, Day, MacKenzie, Weddle, Meek, Scrim, Kosi but MacDonald was best of all - given where he is on his journey.

Agree. We want Brocky to sign an extension. A class above and could be anything.

Some boys are players when Hawks are a bottom 6 team but will not be there in a Top 6 team

Bramble is one of these. Morrison also. There a couple of others. Ward is a class above both.

Jiath is a trade. He has currency now so get something for him. List management 101.

Mitchell is a class above him.

Scrim was solid, Mitchell very good. Backline looks and plays better without Frost.

Forward line functions a lot better with Butler, Brockman, Lewis and Kosi

Kosi - 2 or 3 goals/game and brings the ball to ground. He gets a game every day of the week.

Meek better than Reeves. He is a liability in general play. Understand yall love hit-outs and nothing prettier than a HO down the throat. But HO's are not correlated to winning games. Reeves is a trade.

Did McCabe play on the weekend? From reports I saw his direct opponent was a major factor when Allies beat SA pretty handily last week.

Definitely trade CJ as long as we get a Top 25 pick (which doesn't slip before trade night) and I would absolutely wish him well…..Hustwaite needs to get a look in, hopefully Cooper Stephens can play somewhere other than inside mid to get games…..Ward needs to come back plus our 2 high draft picks from this years draft. I trust the backline without Frost and CJ. Mitchell and Weddle are locks if fit, I trust them……. LEAVE CMac in the team…. Happy to see BMac back in due course….. we can’t fit them all in….. Sounds like we need draft capital…..

Another first-class production again gents. Couldn't stop chuckling to myself about assembling the 'Fab 4' for the show. So my burning question is: who is John, Paul, George and Ringo? Any contributions from other Hawks Insiders will be welcome! 🤣🤣
