Not the result we were hoping for, but so much to discuss, analyse, and dissect - we look at the performance of each Hawk that took to the field at Gather Round in Norwood
Amon's game was interesting in that he only had 2 kicks after half-time and it looked to me as though Kelly was more dominant on that wing after half-time.
Ned Long may be the challenge for Finn Maginess for the outside midfield tag. He looked to take Whitfield as a defensive forward.
I think Nash has been a lock with Sam since he took over and being 197cm he is our option for the big mid role. A point which I think has been overlooked by many in his development is that I think he is only Irishman who has learnt his game essentially as a midfield/forward rather than a half back flanker e.g. McKenna, O'Connor (who was run with for a while), Kennelly, Hanley, Tuohy.
Both Meek & Reeves this week ensured that the ball was brought to the ground in marking contests & it looked as though the smalls were playing to this strategy. Interesting point that all of the rucks were born in 1998.
Ward strikes me that he will, in the short term, be like Cotchin - set up kicks (20-30 metres) rather than long incisive kicking.
Mitchell looks to have taken the next spot in the back half which had been an option for Bramble - Mitchell appears to be more willing to take up the contest and body contact. This may leave Bramble looking at an outside midfield spot with Morrison/Amon.
