With things heating up at board level, Hawks Insiders is committed to bringing you balanced coverage ahead of one of the most important AGMs in recent history on December 13. Consider a paid subscription to Hawks Insiders to support our efforts.
Here are at Hawks Insiders, we’ve committed to interviewing each of the candidates running for Board positions in the lead up to the club’s AGM on December 13.
Dr Anne-Marie Pellizzer was our final candidate to interview — and her frank discussion with Ashley Browne, Danny Prins and Darren Levin did not disappoint.
Dr Pellizzer — a peri-operative physician, who was part of the successful Operation Payback campaign in 1996 and has served on the Membership Committee for many years — pulled no punches in her discussion of key topics including:
The club’s cultural review concerning First Nations players;
The “jarring” recent comments by club legend Chris Langford about the current Board;
The focus on diversity;
Her unequivocal endorsement of Peter Nankivell; and
The need for stability with so many crucial projects on the go.
Dr Pellizzer also gave us a fascinating insight into how the Hawthorn Board currently functions — how often they meet, what they discuss, general governance, and the importance of a portfolio-based approach.
Confused about who to vote for in the upcoming election? All 2022 Board candidates have now been interviewed by Hawks Insiders and we will endeavour to keep you informed ahead of the AGM vote.
