Great analysis, even if it is a little confronting to read! We’re definitely playing the long game!

Generally a very good summary of the season & each player. I’m not quite as enthused about Hardwick as you guys. I think he’s been ok but, regardless of the stats, I don’t think he’s been as good this year. Also think you may have been a tad generous re Mitchell’s 44 possession game. He wasted a lot of them with bombs forward easily picked off by defenders. I’d also add Worpel, Howe & Cousins are very poor users of the ball. Negative stuff I know, but this season has been a stinker!

We are missing the outside run of Smith, Phillips is a poor imitation. Even Scully added something and had a much bigger tank than Morrison. Mitchell gets his hands on the ball a lot but wants to dish it off. At the moment there are not a lot of options for him or any of the mid-fielders and Hawks don't have a Bont, Petracca or Dusty type who can burst out of the clearance repeatedly - these guys are rare - JOM was doing some of this but has not been able to sustain. Outside run, speed and finishing are sorely needed. Low Inside 50's stem from this lack. Would love to see Downie at some point. Even Will Day might play in this role if he can build up his tank.

Thanks guys, comprehensive. I would rate them as follows - adjusted for age and experience.

"A" Scrimshaw, JOM, Jars, Wingard, Hardwick - not enough good sides have at least 8

"B" CJ, Mitchell - no enough good sides have at least 8 in here

"C" Worpel, Kosi, Moore, Cousins, Morrison, Frost, Breust , McEvoy, Howe, Burgoyne, Shiels - too many, good sides have 6 or less here

"D" Hartigan, Phillips, Hanrahan - too many good sides have 2 or less

"F" Mitchell, O'Brien - too many, good sides have none.

The rest are hard to gauge.

Anyone 22 or younger gets a pass but if you are 23 or older by end 2021 and "C" or below you are doubtful. If you over 27 and "B" you need to be looked at.

Hawks have potentially up to 10 guys they could release at year end and the team be better for it. Unlikely they do that many but changes are coming.
