The Hawks Insiders team reconvened live on Twitter Spaces after an action-packed second night of the 2022 AFL Draft.
Perhaps unexpectedly, the Hawks drafted three players on the night, taking our draft haul to FIVE for the first time in recent memory (someone please let us know about the last time this happened and you'll win ... something).
ICYMI our second round picks were:
#37 Henry Hustwaite:
A left footed mid who's been compared to none other than Scott Pendlebury.
#46 Jack O'Sullivan
A hard-as-nails inside mid and the new 'Mighty Mouse' at 177cm.
#52 Bailey Macdonald
A CJ-esque speedster whose pace has been described as "dazzling", "daring", and "elite".
They followed on from our 1st round picks:
#7 Cam Mackenzie
#18 Josh Weddle
The Hawks Insiders team of Darren Levin, Danny Prins and Brad Klibansky ran their eye over all three second round selections. We were also joined by sports writer and Sandy Dragons media manager Dylan Bolch who gave us some unique insights into our prized pick #7 Cam Mackenzie.
Later in the night, Ashley Browne called in from Marvel Stadium, giving us all the colour and goss from on the ground at Marvel. We heard live from Hawks List Manager Mark McKenzie who discussed, among other things:
How highly they ranked Henry Hustwaite.
The disappointment of losing Academy prospect Cooper Vickery to the Swans at pick #27.
The Hawks strategy of "getting back into the first round.
Placing a bid on Essendon father-son prospect Alwyn Davey Jr at 45.
The "high hopes" and unique athletic profile of Josh Weddle.
The possibility of taking father-son project player Jerome 'Son of Stephen' Lawrence in the Rookie Draft.
