It was a frantic first night of the AFL National Draft, and one which saw Hawthorn involved in everything. It started with a draft pick swap, into a top 10 selection and finished with a major draft night trade for a player no one expected.

Hawthorn fans rode an emotional roller coaster over the duration of the draft, but there is no doubt that Mark McKenzie and his team had a plan, and they executed it methodically.
