Tim English and Libba playing definitely doesn't mean dogs didn't have their midfield. Naughton is their best forward. Too many people panicking, lets not forget guys last pre-season we played the Dogs twice, first game we lost, second game we got absolutely smashed. What happened during the actual season?? Exactly..

Thanks again HI team, such a great time of the week for me when listening to your podcasts. To be perfectly honest, I really look forward to them now just as much as watching the Hawks play ... also love reading all the comments made to the articles by fellow HI followers and I'm sure like myself, it's very much appreciated with the replies given.

Can't wait for Wednesday night's live stream of the panel show at the Glenferrie Hotel so all the very best to all involved for the first one of the year.

Bring on the home and away season ... GO HAWKS !!!

I really hope we didn’t care because I am concerned. We proved in 2024 that we lose games when we have slow starts. We don’t seem to be connecting?

Ball AGAIN in the defensive half for most of the first half. Forward line TOTALLY dysfunctional. Gunston simply CANNOT play, the game has gone past him. Play McCabe for Gunston and if Chol can’t nail marks then play Rama and yes someone must coach him with his goal kicking technique. AFL games will improve them assuming they have the talent… AKA Calsher!

(Mick Cowan) Do you have an opinion on Weddle’s second efforts? I don’t see much pressure (unless he has been told to leave it to someone else to win it back so he can clear the ball). IMO has looked disinterested in much of the first half of both pre season games.

Dylan Moore is the barometer - needs to play 4 quarters for the team to gel.

Keep Finn in the team. Ward has proven he is an inside midfielder if he is to play, quit the experiment with the Wing. Was also disappointed with CamMac but have the faith. Agree with D’Amb, perhaps the concussion has had an affect on his disposals, also not worried, he’ll be okay.

Win or lose against Sydney, I hope we get cracking from the first bounce.

CORRECT - THE VFL HAS BECOME A JOKE. DOES US NO FAVOURS!

Hi Michelle

I don’t have concerns on Weddle’s second efforts, but I see where you are coming from.

An early reflection, I think with Barrass & Battle coming in, particularly if Frost plays, his 2024 role as a tall defender may require him to broaden his defensive skillset this year to a medium/small option.

Cheers Mick. I tend to watch the players I believe have “elite” and “game breaking” capability a bit more than the others and pick their game apart. I hope I’m right, as I believe he has ability to change our fortunes when on song.

The podcast comes from the X (Twitter) Spaces platform and is usually held on Wednesday nights 8.25pm. (This week due to the game was moved to Thursday.) You can log in live then.

A post is put on X earlier on Weds as a reminder/confirmation.

Mick, thank you, I suspected it might be something like that. Can I request notification is sent via email, Twitter is too much of a cesspool to have switched on (other than for HI live podcasts).

If we change the date/time of the Safe Space, we will generally communicate it through Substack in the bottom of any lead up articles at the beginning of that week.

Andrew

Just my personal strategy - I actually set an alarm on my phone clock for (weekly) Weds 8.20pm as a personal reminder.
