I claim to be a member of the very first Tasmanian Hawthorn family - my grandfather started supporting the Hawks as the underdogs back in 1925, passed it on to my father and then to us.
I received my first jumper in 1957 and for many years we were members but getting to see a game at Glenferrie about once every 2 or 3 years staying at the Orient hotel in Little Collins street.
We used to catch the old DC3's from Launceston - you had to board from the back so the plane would not tip over.
On one of those trips Ron Cook took me and my brother into the pre game change rooms where I met my heros, John Peck , John Winnike and Brendan Edwards.
I now live in Portugal after ten years in Brazil and hardly ever miss a game on watchafl.com.
Am stoked with this current team and the energy and joy they play with.
Am a massive Connor MacDonald and Jack Scrimshaw fan....and of course what Wiz and Ginny and Weddle bring us. In awe of Sicily and Moore.
And yes, I predicted on my fav fan site, Line In The Sand, that we would lose our first 6 or 7 but come home with a rush but the extent of that rush I think none of us could have quite predicted.
Morrison should get his 100th this week.
And yes, Barrass is a must get. Free up Sic a bit more and let Weddle loose to be a wherever player......our very own Kouta.
Re Chol - was into him from the get go and was defending his style from pre-season. He has been awesome and his pressure first rate.
Re Calsher - it is worth pointing out that the two games we lost he was subbed out early at the point where we had comfortable leads - NEVER SUB HIM OUT FGS !!!!
Regarding the injury list, or lack thereof.... I don't mean to try and suggest we are hard done by. Far from it. We are still going pretty well compared to other teams.
However, we had a lot of our injuries earlier in the season. And while we don't have a lot of games experience sitting on the pine right now, we have our main key forward and our still young full back out. Among others of course, not taking away anything from the other injured players. But structurally Lewis and Blanck has been a hard hit to take. It's a testament to the coaches and the players out there how well we are going without them on the park.
Blanck DGB Wingard and Lewis all big holes to fill along with CJs time out.. the way others have pivoted into new roles has been good for the now .. but even better for the future.
Agreed. I usually listen in the car, often on the highway, and I mostly lose Ash's comments, or have to continually adjust my volume. Then the next comment is extra loud. Please, Ash, we don’t want to miss your pearls of wisdom!!!
Thanks for the feedback everyone, greatly appreciated. We can confirm that we have a (hopeful) solution for the problem which should be in effect for next Wednesday. Fingers crossed that you can clearly hear an improved sound from Ash, because his inputs are too valuable to be lost.
Ash’s mic is ALWAYS a lot lower than everyone else’s which causes havoc trying to adjust volume between speakers. It was fine on SEN so it must be his gear not technique. It really does make the experience much harder esp when listening outside eg when riding my bike home from cbd.
I came here to say the same thing! I used to listen for free so had to accept whatever audio quality there was. But now that I'm a paid up subscriber, I don't think it's ungrateful to complain about it...
Hi great space just finished listening to it on my morning walk.
Peter Burge for the Crimmins Medal as health is our best player and to quote Kingy health is your most important player this time of the year. On resting players I think we have been doing this surreptitiously with a number of key players playing low game over the last couple of months. We need to get to the finals first and if we do we get a break.
On Tom Barass has everyone forgotten what Jesse Hogan did to us two weeks ago and secondly Sam would have seen Barrass when he was at West Coast so he knows what he's getting better than anybody.
My thoughts on Barrass come down to the state of his neck. From the article I read about it, I don't know how we can expect him to stay elite and atay on the park in the coming years.
Rule 529 is where it’s been at this year.. 529 opportunities to take the field in some form, being versatile and flexible has thrown a cat amongst the pigeons for oppo coaches .. the systems Sam has in place are awesome. The future is bright !!
Re Barass - if Sam wants him then yes is my view. Can someone clarify though is the future second round we gave up for Mabiol this year? Ie if we give up first round for Barass then we miss out both first and second in what is viewed as the deepest draft for years and ahead of Tassie concessions the most valuable?
We gave Gold Coast Brisbane's 2024 second round pick that we got as part of the Ryan / Gunston trade. We have Collingwood's 2024 second round pick (and they have ours) from the Ginnivan trade.
The Western Bulldogs today announced that the Club has traded Brian Lake to Hawthorn in exchange for the Hawks first two selections (currently 21 and 41) in the 2012 AFL National Draft.
The Barrass trade will be interesting? WC want him off their books, so I think the Hawks hold the bargaining power here. I agree next year's first and the Pies second should get it done. I don't agree DGB should be included. He should get another year. An uninterrupted preseason and who knows the penny might just drop for him?
Hi guys.
Love listening to your show.

Is anyone else having difficulty hearing the comments from Ash ? Everyone else are clearly heard ..

Thanks for your patience as we sort that one out!
Agree, I think it may be time for Ash to buy a new mic/headset/whatever.

I always have to increase the sound by 50% and then quickly turn it down again when anybody else speaks 😐

Adding Tom Barrass or any other Riley Thilthorpe size defender is a master stroke equal to what Clarko did by rebirthing Stewart Dew in 08.

ps ; can you tell Brad to turn his volume up....or speak closer to his mic ?
I am glad others are commenting on this been driving me mad for two years.

GO HAWKS
Victory Thursday, that's right, Thursday.
