We all know Frosty’s ability in a lock down role when he set a high watermark wearing Buddy like a glove in a game in Sydney and nearly keeping clean sheet. Of course, that was the famous game when the Prince of Poowong laid a world record 14 tackles in his debut game delivering a famous victory!
The defensive plot just thickened with DGB going down. Looks like Serong will get his go. I still wouldn’t mind seeing what Lloyd Meek can do in defence. God speed to Will McCabe and Bodie Ryan’s development. Roughy has his work cut out to snare a key defender this year. The Bombers must be licking their lips every time a Hawthorn headline lands 😩
Great article and to get those insights form Frosty is really awesome. The most pleasing thing about that is the recognition that his role will be confined to locking down on the opposition's big forward. If Frosty can stick to that role, he shapes as a good replacement for Blancky. It will be interesting to see how Ethan Phillips also goes - Richmond plucked Tyler Young from their reserves team in last year's supplemental selection period and he is now a lock in their best 22 and a very under rated key defender. Hopefully, we get a similar result with Phillips.
I like Sam Frost. He has a real crack at it and sticks up for his teammates. But, I worry that he's not the defender we need to help get us into finals. Ethan Phillips may be that player, and so I'm very keen to see how he goes. I think select Ethan, and keep him in the side for a month or two.

My personal frustration with Frosty wasn’t so much the frost ball but more the ill discipline that generally cost a goal a game.
Hopefully he’s doing a bit of yoga in the off-season to settle the static between the ears
