I’ve been watching the Hawks since 1960. That was one of the most insipid performances I’ve had to endure. I saw no genuine positives. No pressure on the ball carrier. It looked like the instructions were to keep 10 metres away from the opposition. I’m usually a glass half full person but tonight it feels very empty.
Hawks need an academy zone covering Melbourne just like Gold Coast presently has the privilege of :/ Watching their academy kids playing their second game tonight and having an impact makes me furious how rigged the draft is. The bottom sides are up against the a draft system rewarding the northern states. We can continually finish bottom 3, but the reality is our live pick is around the 8-12 mark and we don't get the luxury of multiple free hits inside the top 20. The bias towards certain clubs must stop now!!
HFC should ask for an assistance package, similar to NMFC. Some early seconds that must be used to trade for existing players. The problem is, they “mostly” don’t know how to recruit talent. Hope Roughy has better luck. Right now I would accept anyone who has STRONG Leadership capability.
I have been a member and an avid Hawk supporter for over 60 years and I cannot remember a worst performance than last night. Chol is one of the worst investments the club has made in years.
There is only word to describe The Hawks and that is "terrible".
Chol is waste of space. Dear is not ready to play in the seniors yet but he at least would have given 100%.
Finn tried really hard and was happy for him, Impey was good as well.
Sicily is way off his best, where was our midfield? What has happened to Nash and Duke this year?
The umpiring was not a consistent as I would like, how can a playing who is looking in a different direction and walking away be shoved in the back (was unaware) and the umpire say he dived.
This game along with the Demons game should have the Nun from "Game of Thrones" walking behind our team saying Shame, Shame Shame.
Really struggling with the simultaneous form-slump of so many key senior players from last season. The most obvious ones being Sic, Nash, Newc, Reeves (and Lewis before his injury)... Sicily in particular has been so far off his elite best. I get that his peak last season was with Blanck in the side, but Frost has been a more-than-adequate replacement.
The other concern is the kids not taking an obvious step. Weddle is probably the only one whose elite upside I feel certain about. Connor has just disappeared in the last fortnight and I don't see enough in Ward yet.
Having said all that, a week ago we were really up & about after the courageous fightback vs the Pies... so trying to hold on to that... and the understanding that we're super young and development of such a young squad is never linear.
If we don't turn it around vs North it will be very hard for even the most measured supporters to keep the faith.
I am sadly all doom and gloom ATM. If we don't beat NMFC, we are at risk of the Wooden Spoon which has NEVER happened in my lifetime. There is no Harley Reid prize to soften that blow. Sam Mitchell does not have the right support and he does not have enough on field leaders. The game plan needs to simplify. I’m not sure flogging them on the training track is the answer. At this rate of growth, I CANNOT see a Flag this decade which has also NEVER happened in my lifetime.
Love the eloquence. You are not alone. There will be many deflated Hawks supporters out there. Michael Tuck was dishonoured last night. Karl Amon and Finn Maginness are the exceptions.

I’d rather two steps forward, one step back than one step forward, two steps back.

Been a hawk supporter since the late 70's.

GONE BACKWARDS
I'm bereft of anything except bile and invective at the moment.

Connor Nash,Josh Ward,Maribol Chol,Cam McKenzie will all be in the gun for getting omitted I would've thought
They aren’t alone. Chol is at his 3rd club for a reason & is the laziest player that I have ever seen.
