‘Honourable loss.’

It’s a term that has been bandied about a bit this season it has been a common descriptor for Hawthorn’s one-point loss to Carlton in round three and the 10-point loss to Melbourne on the weekend just gone.

Even the Sydney game that preceded that, which the Hawks loss by 41 points after leading into the final term, was considered by some to be a reasonable effort, given how ascendant the Swans have become.

We have used the term here at Hawks Insiders and it hasn’t sat comfortably with some in our community.
