Trade regrets? We've had a few
Many players have passed through Hawthorn's doors through player trades over the years. But in trading as in life, you can't win 'em all.
In the first of a three-part series, we’re picking three teams based on players who have come to the Hawks from other clubs.
The team listed below, is a combination of ‘couldn’t play’ players and ‘wrong time, wrong place’ players.
Roger Ellingworth, for example, was a fringe player at an ordinary Melbourne team yet came to the Hawks in the midst of their first golden era. He played one senior game in 1986.
Backs
Michael Hartley (Essendon), Austin McCrabb (Geelong), Mark Bunn (Fitzroy)
Hartley was a ripping bloke, but never played win a winning team at the Hawks.
