The season is a month old now, we’ve had our bye, and we’ve done very well to be sitting atop of the table.
Now that most teams have caught up to our four games, it seemed like a good time to cast my eye across the stat sheets and see how our numbers stack up.
It is early, and the sample size is small. Not only have teams played just a handful of games, but the difference in the difficulty of those games can vary quite widely. We have played some tough opponents (GWS, Sydney, Carlton, and Essendon). The stats for teams that have played West Coast, for example, will probably look quite a bit better than ours.
And yet, while there are areas we could stand to address, it generally paints a pretty rosy picture.
AS A TEAM
One of our main statistical success stories of the season has been the territory game. We are averaging over 55 inside 50s per game (ranked fifth) while conceding fewer than 50. The differential of +24 ranks fourth in the competition.
