The Family Club no more
By calling itself 'The Family Club', Hawthorn has set itself a standard that plainly, it has been unable to live up to. It is time to park it.
Hawthorn fans have been rocked by ABC journalist Russell Jackson’s report alleging that key figures at the AFL club demanded the separation of young First Nations players from their partners, and pressured one couple to terminate a pregnancy for the sake of the player's career.
Former coach Alastair Clarkson, former general manager of football Chris Fagan and player welfare manager Jason Burt were named in the report.
We at Hawks Insiders will examine the story in depth on our weekly Thursday night Twitter Spaces. Find a comfortable place because we might be there for a while.
In the meantime, I had this to say while talking to Gerard Whateley on SEN 1116 on Wednesday morning.

I’ve never been comfortable with ‘The Family Club’ moniker at Hawthorn. All good football clubs are family clubs and I’ve never understood why Hawthorn was allowed to claim it without challenge.
There will be more to say on Twitter on Thursday night.
Who's Ashley Brown? A little sus seeing she's from "your ABC."
