It was the biggest trade of the 2023 AFL Trade Period and it had tongues wagging throughout the industry - but none moreso than from the Hawthorn playing group themselves.
Speaking exclusively to Hawks Insiders, Hawthorn's Head of Football - Rob McCartney, explained that the excitement of the Ginnivan acquisition had spilled over to the playing group - who provided feedback on his potential recruitment.
In a wide-ranging chat that will have all brown and gold supporters excited for 2024, McCartney explained that the decision to trade Ginnivan into the club was considered from various parties and angles.
"This isn't about Jack Ginnivan - this is about any player that we're bringing to our club,” he said.
“Our playing group is very much wedded to the plan that we have - we're really transparent about what we want to do and we want them to be part of the decision making or influencing the decision making through giving us their opinion, their thought.
