As we (belatedly) celebrate our second birthday, our reason for being has been validated by the footy media finally coming around to what the Hawks are trying to do.
Happy Birthday Ash and Team - thank God HI exists. With a rebuild underway, few wins likely to eventuate and a disgraceful fixture that has the very few home games strewn over the year coupled with limited meaningful content coming to us from HFC over the past few years I needed something to help me feel connected to HFC and then I found HI. HI has made me feel connected, a safe place where free speech occurs, ideas are tossed around, robust but healthy debates in relation to player capability and durability and all for the LOVE of our great club. Keep up the amazing work. HI is a tonic for losses and a fine wine for celebrating wins.
Great article -- I always appreciate your nuanced take on things. It takes a lot of time and effort to know just one club at fan-level, let alone 18. In response to your comments on the podcast, I agree it would be a boost for the game if Gold Coast finally played finals, so I'll take that as the silver lining from last weekend. And if the Suns make the top 8 at the expense of Geelong, even better!
I’m still seething after the GCS flogging and debating whether to go to the G on Sunday or visit my 91 year old mum as I do every Sunday and watch the game on Foxtel with her (its easy to walk away from the tv). If I trusted Hawthorn to compete (let alone win) without Sic, I would be in my reserved seat in a heart beat and visit mum tomorrow instead. DILEMMA!!! I agree with you GCS over Geelong in the finals = Hell Yes!
Well done again Ash. Hats off. Another high class piece of reflective journalism, with eloquence and sentiment right off the top shelf. To each and every other team member of HI , thank you one and all for every quality contribution that makes it compulsive reading and listening of every issue related to the Mighty Hawks. The growing community of followers continually and collectively thank our lucky stars that HI exists. You guys are there for the exultation of the wins, but also there for group therapy after a loss, and life is much more bearable after a dose of HI. I hope that HI goes from strength to strength and keep up all the outstanding work! We always get such incredible value for money for all of the brilliant content so please send me the bank details so I can drop a sizeable donation to keep the coffers healthy!
Thanks Ash. Great article and congrats on HI 2nd birthday. It’s been a revelation to me - being such a one-eyed Hawks fan (for over 50 years now) I is get so much pleasure from your articles and particularly your podcasts - my hourly walk has been improved immensely listening to you guys and learning so much about the club and the players that other media doesn’t provide. Keep up the good work and I must say I am loving the Hawks this season - I think they are definitely in the right track now to have a lot of success in the years to come.
An opportunity to have a meaningful sharing of alternative ideas & perspectives (although we each have our own conscious & unconscious biases) away from the “clickbait” focus of the modern media makes HI a valuable forum. 👍
Always love the content and its especially terrific for me as an ex-pat
When I left Melbourne in 1994 it was basically impossible to stay connected
That's improved a lot in the last 10 or so years and now with advent of HI and some of the other HFC related content such as the HTP and TH etc. it feels like being there.

Agreed wholeheartedly Michelle
