As is the want of the human condition, the ability and desire to “rate” an event, film or person is one of life’s great pastimes, often finishing with a list that will be longer than your arm.

The consequence of the process is that the higher the rating, the greater the need to prove or justify the merit of your choice or decision. In an age where instant gratification has come to the fore and the need to be first rather than right, the “rating” of performances has become even more immediate and often intransigent by nature.
