As Paul Dear fights cancer we look back on his underrated career

For many Hawthorn people, the enjoyment of Sunday’s win over Collingwood – and the general improvement since the bye – was tempered by Hamish McLachlan’s interview with 1991 Norm Smith medallist Paul Dear.

At the start of the lengthy interview, and McLachlan is a terrific interviewer it must be said, Dear revealed his long battle with pancreatic cancer.
