We feel like the questions that should be asked of Sam Mitchell at his (sometimes) mid-week press conferences are not the ones us brown and gold fans actually get the answers to.
So we have done the work for the journos who may or may not be present for Sammy’s last pre-game presser of the year - here are the questions we want the answers to:
How difficult has it been to train with nearly a third of the list - 12 players - already out for the season?
He is still contracted to Richmond, but has incoming high performance boss Peter Burge had any input into decisions to put that long list of players on ice for the rest of the season?
How active do you think you will be in terms of player movement - free agency and trade windows? Jack Gunston, Liam Shiels and the need another ruckman just for starters. Do you anticipate a busy off-season?
After the poor performance on Sunday against the Tigers and given the state of play what does the game against the Western Bulldogs actually mean other than getting one more hit out into some of the kids?
Hawthorn published a social media post featuring the stats for some of Finn Maginness’s opponents. Is the club disappointed he hasn’t received a Rising Star nomination?
2022 Coaches Votes by #AFL players yet to be nominated for the Rising Star (votes up to R21): 7 FINN MAGINNESS 5 Ollie Henry 2 Nathan O'Driscoll 1 Jake Soligo 1 Lachlan Gollant@jaiden_popowski Anyone eligible for rising star to have polled coaches votes but no nomination? Love your work!Em.J Gee @EmIZGeeHawthorn has traditionally waited until pretty late with list decisions based on lodgements and supplemental listings. Will it be the same this year? When should we expect to know about the futures some of those without contracts for next year?
Do you expect Tyler Brockman to be at Hawthorn next year?
Hawthorn has had a series of two-year captains - Jarryd Roughead, Ben Stratton and Ben McEvoy. Would you like the next captain to have the job for considerably longer?
With the emergence of James Blanck and Emerson Jeka, and with Sam Frost to return, where does that leave Denver Grainger-Barras?
Four years without finals now for Hawthorn and while finals were never on the cards this year, how hard will it be to be watching on in September once again?
What questions would you like to know? What have we missed? Add them to the list so we can get them taken to Mitch directly.
